SAFETY SWITCHES – WHAT DO THEY DO?

Safety switches are there to ensure your safety. This is managed through two ways. Firstly, they shut down the power supply, when a current leakage is detected. Secondly, they protect people from any residual current, which helps to prevent electric shock. A common question we get asked is, ‘is one safety switch enough?’. The short answer to this is ‘no’. To ensure best protection from electric shock, safety switches should be installed on all circuits, including power points and pool equipment. Indeed, the Electrical Safety Act 2002 requires all rental properties to have safety switches installed on all power circuits. If this is necessary for rental properties, it’s certainly necessary in your business.
