Who we work for
Electricians for Douglas Shire homes
From a power point that stopped working to a full rewire on an old Queenslander. We turn up when we promised, we clean up after ourselves, and we tell you straight if something is not worth doing.

What matters to you
How we work with homes
- You will know how it is charged before we start
- Everyday work is charged for the time and the materials, and we tell you that when you book rather than at the end. Planned work like a rewire, a new circuit or a switchboard upgrade is quoted in writing. Once we know what the job actually needs, you hear it before we carry on.
- A licensed team, not a subbie you have never met
- Four electricians and two apprentices, all working under Queensland Electrical Contractor Licence 82270. The same faces turn up.
- We work in the tropics
- Salt air, humidity and the wet season are hard on fittings. We fit gear that survives it, and we will tell you when a cheaper fitting is a false economy on a coastal block.
- Emergencies at any hour
- No power at nine at night with a house full of family is not a next-week problem. We run a 24 hour callout, every day of the year.

On site
A whole house, not just the room you rang about
Open plan looks simple and wires up the other way round. Fans on a raked ceiling, downlights that have to miss the beams, power and lighting carried out to a deck that gets used more than the dining room, and switching that still makes sense whichever door you come in. That is the kind of house we wire, and the owners keep our number afterwards.
Who we already do this for
The people who have us back
Most of our residential work is repeat and referral. It usually goes the same way: one job, then the next one, then the property manager's number when the house goes on the rental market.

Geoff and Ceri Jolly Permanent power and lighting to the outdoor area, then ongoing as a rental“We would like to thank you for assisting us in getting permanent power supply and lighting to our outdoor area. The work ethic from your team is to be commended. We will not hesitate to recommend BH Electrics to other locals in need of an electrician. We would like to have BH Electrics as our go-to electricians should anything need doing around the property.”
Straight answers
Homeowners: your questions
Do I legally need interconnected smoke alarms in Queensland?
In Queensland, yes. Every existing private home, townhouse and unit must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms by 1 January 2027. Homes sold or leased after 31 December 2021 already needed them. Source: Queensland Fire Department.
Do I need a safety switch on my house?
If you bought the place or started a new tenancy, Queensland law gives you 90 days to have approved safety switches installed on the general purpose socket-outlets. Source: Electrical Safety Office.
Can I do small electrical jobs myself?
No. In Queensland it is an offence to carry out electrical work without the appropriate licence, and that includes swapping a light fitting or a power point. The penalties are serious and your insurer will not thank you.
